we already finish our chapter 8 and i really enjoy these topic. It is about data warehouse. Did you know what is data warehouse? It really help if we have a lot of information that we need to saved and how to access the information. Now, let me summarize about what is actually data warehouse.
Data warehouse fundamentals
- Collection of information, gathered from many different operational databases that support business analysis activities and decison making. Also, to aggregate info throughout an organization into a single repository.
- Extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) : a process that extract information from internal and external databases, transform the information using a common set of enterprise definitions and load the information into a data warehouse.
- Data mart : contains a subset of data warehouse information.
Multidimensional analysis and data mining
- Databases contain information in a series of two dimensional tables and it contains layer of columns and rows.
- Cube : common term for the representation of multidimensional information.
- Data mining : the process of analyze data to extract information not offered by the raw data alone. (use data mining tools)
Information Cleansing or scrubbing
- a process that weeds out and fixes or discards inconsistent, incorrect or incomplete information. Contact data in an operational system.
Business Intelligent
- information that people use to support their decision (making efforts) and include :
i) Technology
ii) People
iii) Culture
